John McGuirk

I am a fully qualified, experienced counsellor, psychotherapist, CBT therapist & clinical supervisor in Bristol and online. I have over fifteen years experience working from a wide-range of therapeutic approaches with children, young people, and adults.

My main aim as a therapist is to offer a space where you can recover your mental health as well as explore and develop yourself and your life in whatever way feels best for you.

I have particular passion and experience in working with difference and diversity in the areas of identity and intimate relationships.

Professional Membership and Qualification

I am a senior accredited (Snr Accred), registered member of the BACP. This is the highest level of accreditation possible from the BACP, one of the leading membership bodies for psychotherapists in the UK. This level of accreditation means I have evidenced to the BACP my experience, qualifications, and competency in working with complex mental health presentations, risk, psychopathology, difference and diversity, and research. My education includes a foundation degree in science (FdSc) in counselling and psychotherapy from Bristol University, a post-graduate certificate (PGCert) in low intensity CBT and a post-graduate diploma (PGDip) in high intensity CBT for adults and children from Exeter University. I also have an Masters (MA) in Buddhist Studies from Bristol University.

I am a member of The Counselling Directory, Psychology Today, and of course, The BACP, all of which verify my qualifications and accredited membership.
